Summer Shopping!!

Ok... If this is you all's way of exposing everyone's addictions, you are doing a great job! During my blog stalking period of the day---- pretty much every minute that I'm not doing something else--- I ran across another linky party that I think I'm going to enjoy. Kristen at Ladybug's Teacher Files has put it together. Her blog is really nice too! :) She has sooo many great ideas to share.

In a conversation that my husband and I were having the other day, he stated that I always manage to find a way to spend money, even if it's only $2.... Yea, duh.... why wouldn't I spend it. Dollar Tree, Target (especially The Dollar Spot), Ross, TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, Michaels and so many others were made just for people like me and some of my fellow classroom shopaholics. I think he is just jealous because when I shop, I manage to get waaayyy more items than him.... what do I mean... I'll explain.... We both plan to spend $20 in a store. The ONE item that he needs is $19.99, the TWENTY items I need to take up more space all over the house is $1.00...  Yep, I WIN!!!

But anywho... one hundred and something dollars later, I'm back at home. Here are some items that I purchased to use in my classroom:

Dollar Tree Purchases:

Student Work Grabbers

Storage Bags ( I will probably use these to store buddy reading materials/center supplies.)

Student Table Storage Containers

Hanging Monkeys ( I plan to use them on a bulletin board.)

Hobby Lobby Purchases:

More Scrapbook Paper.... Whoo Hooo!!!!! Love, Love, Love!!!!!!!!

I will be using this fabric to make cushions for some crates for the reading center! Yes, MY PRINT AND COLORS!!!!!! I may never change my theme again! LOL!!

File folders and ribbon paper clips

Ross Purchases:

OMG!!! MY COLORS.... CURTAINS!!!! There are two panels in each pack for $5.99. I have two large windows in my classroom to display these babies!!

Display board

Storage boxes... Idk how I will use these, but  "I couldn't just leave them in the store. ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!?" (Those were the words that I said to that husband of mine.) HA!

PENS, PENS, PENS!!! JOY, JOY, JOY!!!

"You better shut up!!!" is what I said to myself when I saw this bad boy! This is going to be perfect for the classroom library area. YES.... It's a RAINBOW ZEBRA RUG!!!

Target and Party City Purchases

My future "Snack Bucket" (its rather large) and a shoe organizer that I will use for something. I haven't figured that out yet.

Ok... the picture is upside down, but oh well.... I will be hanging these from the ceiling somewhere!

MY WORK FOR JUNE IS DONE, BUT JULY IS A COUPLE OF DAYS AWAY! I CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED!!! tee-hee..... My husband would be ready to cash in on the insurance policy if he heard me say that, so let's just keep that secret to ourselves. Please and thank you! Haha!!

Thanks again Kristen for this linky!! I will definitely be sharing again! Too much fun not to!

Monday Made It

I have spent several hours over the last couple of weeks checking out so many awesome blogs! The "Monday Made It" has been one of my favorite things. I have truly been inspired by everyone's creativity, so I thought I would join in all the fun! I really liked Tara's ideas of the READ letters. Check out her original post here. I decided that I wanted to make numbers for my classroom door or the wall next to the door. Sticking with my classroom theme and colors, here is what I came up with.

I haven't decided how I would hang them yet, but I absolutely love how they turned out!!! EXCITED!!!!!! :)

I am also in the process of revamping my home. In the kitchen, I have added a glass tile backsplash that I absolutely love and was looking for items to decorate the top of the cabinets. Here are a couple of additions to the above-the-cabinet decor. Yes, I love how these turned out too! For the record, my neighbor was throwing the bottles away (it wasn't me who enjoyed the cold, refreshing taste of these beverages).

I think that I am going to have a good time with this Monday Made It! Thanks Tara!!! :)

Daily 5 Mini Posters

Here are my Daily 5 Mini Posters. Simple and cute (to me, of course)! I'm taking baby steps here lately, but I figure it's better than nothing. I made these images using MS Paint and saved them as JPEG files. I have looked everywhere for an SD card, but can't find ONE anywhere. (Go Figure!) That's how it always is when you really need something. I'm hoping that I will be able to print them at the Kodak Kiosk to get a good quality print. My printer does just fine, but having learned something new I've got to try it! :)

CAFE Posters and Covered Boxes

Ok... I was supposed to "officially start preparing for my classroom" on Monday. It is a quarter to 2 a.m. on a Friday night/morning (yea, I know) and I am just getting around to creating this post. I have been so distracted. I went out on Monday afternoon to pick up a FEW things, (whatever... I spent close to $250) If you are wondering what those FEW items were, you probably already know the answer. YES, things that I DON'T need! Ugh!! (Intervention for a retail addiction is needed!)Once I got home on Monday evening, I figured that I needed to get focused and get busy, but every time I thought I was going to get started, I was distracted by something else. Yep, a week full of distractions.. EXCUSES!!... Shame on me! So this afternoon, I put forth a greater effort to get motivated to work on a few things. This is what I came up with after a few hours. I created my CAFE Posters using Microsoft Word (I used MS Paint to create the image). I really like how they turned out (it took long enough). I am so ready to print and laminate them!

I covered a few boxes for classroom storage with my theme colors. I used wrapping paper and duct tape. Sorry the picture is so blurry, but they are super cute (I think!)! I still have to cover a box with turquoise. I didn't have any on hand. Hopefully I will get around to doing that tomorrow, now that I have a little motivation. I also have to make labels for the them.

Days of the week Glitter Graphics - Glitterlive.com

Today marks my first official day of preparing for my first year as a 5th grade teacher (so sad to leave my 3rd grade babies :(... tear). On the other hand, I am super excited and feel really confident that I will do a great job with the help of my blogger friends. I'm still learning my way around the idea of blogging, but I must say that it has been a great experience so far! Hopefully I will have a few updates later tonight. Wish me luck!!!

SO EXCITED TO GET STARTED!!!

Hello everyone!!! Over the last week or so, my eyes have been glued to my computer screen. Blog hopping is my new, favorite hobby!! :) There are so many amazing teachers out there. It makes me really proud to be a part of such a wonderful group of people. Creating this blog has been a learning experience. I'm slowly, but surely catching the hang of it. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and ideas!
